Just a bit curious, anyone here watch Wrestling? I was a HUGE fan back in the days up until a few years back, when the story lines began to repeat. I watch every now and then now a days.

For those of you who watch, who do you watch, WWE? TNA? Other?
Also post some of your favorite matches and wrestlers of all time.

Matches that come to mind, that were great of course.

First ladder match ever between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon, that was a classic.

The Hell in a Cell between Undertaker and Mick Foley, brutal nothing short of brutal.

Favorite wrestler of all time: Hulk Hogan
runners up in no particular order: HHH, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Razor Ramon, Kidman and Austin. Theres others I'm forgetting though.

Post yours.

Owen Hart died, but he didnt die doing a move or anything, it was due to a bad rigging with wires.

On the other hand, several wrestlers have been severly injured and in one case paralyzed. It is VERY real just with a scripted outcome, the moves are real with a contolled execution much like a dance.

Anyway in case you havent realized I like it, its great entertainment and takes alot of guts/stamina and most of all heart to do.

I guess it's just a matter of opinion. My boyfriend and his family love watching it, but yet they don't believe it's real.

*Sigh* its hard to respond to that comment but believe me wrestling is real, granted there is a scripted outcome and rehearsed moves. But how can you really rehearse being slammed on your back from 6 feet in the air, or jumping from a 15 foot high steel cage, or even getting bashed in the head with a steel chair.

I get a lil peeved when people say wrestling is fake as it takes a serious commitment and an amazing discipline in order to do the moves they do. It is by far from fake just very controlled. Besides wrestling just rocks! Smiley

I'm inclined to aggree with Krissi, here. The violance may be real, but in the end, with any sport, isn't it the outcome which is important? If that is scripted then it ceases to be a sport and becomes entertainment, or more of a drama. However, if it is viewed with exactly this view, then it doesn't really matter if the outcome is fixed or not. Afterall, the outcome in a movie is fixed.

Not a sport, really. It's a performance; a coreagraphed, scripted act.
